Retro Chic Recruitment

To acknowledge the old-school cool of winning an Rx Award, this recruitment campaign went all retro campy.

Back in the day, the Rx Awards were a Gallery-style event where you're work was physically hung on the walls for peers to see. That was cool because it was a casual way to see the industry trends and determine if your work measured up. Honorable mention certificates were my very first Pharma awards. Getting a Silver or Gold was not as easy. I still love the look of the award itself with the slanted Cauduceus symbol slithering through the solid black column.

Later they became online only, and that lost some of its luster, but judging was still done on site in NY and one year my art partner and I were asked to not only serve as judges, but we got to develop the Call for Entries.

Our audience was ourselves, so self-deprecation was in order. No one wants to admit they are trying for awards, but we all secretly want them.

The body copy spoke to the all too true realities of life as a creative in advertising. It was a chance to show our peers that we share their trials and travails. Our life may be hard, but at least you can still win an Rx for it.
